Governor Abbott Announces Texas Military Department, Prestige Ameritech Partnership To Increase Mask Production
Prestige Ameritech's 24-hour operation at their headquarters near Fort Worth will be staffed in part by members of the Texas National Guard 36th Infantry Division and will produce 2 million masks per week. 

Lieutenant Governor Patrick appoints business task force to re-state the economy 
"I have spoken to hundreds of business leaders across the state since the pandemic began, and I know they are already thinking about steps that will need to be taken to put the economy back together when the time comes. I am confident Texas can lead a strong economic recovery both in our state and nationwide and I want to make sure we are ready to go as soon as possible.”

THBI Covid-19 Webinar Recap
On Tuesday, April 7th, THBI kicked off the BioTexas Cafe virtual series with Texas Biomedical Research Institute's Dr. Larry Schlesinger, CEO and Dr. Joanne Turner, Vice President for Research for a discussion on the Institute’s unique role in the bioscience landscape and how its team of researchers are tackling COVID-19. Next week, THBI will host the members-only BioTexas Cafe with Dr. Rodney Rohde for a discussion on best practices policy leaders can learn from COVID-19 and how to be better prepared for the next virus.

CPRIT Launches New COVID-19 Webpage
CPRIT will continue to post new information to the COVID-19 webpage for information, guidance, and frequently asked questions related to COVID-19’s impact on CPRIT grants.

CPRIT will continue to accept nominations for the CPRIT recruitment awards listed below through June 20 for Fiscal Year 2020
Due to the unknown effects of COVID-19 and declining oil-based revenues on the Fiscal Year 2021 state budget, CPRIT has not scheduled any release dates for requests for applications from all CPRIT programs. We will provide updates on Fiscal Year 2021 grant applications on our website.

Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS)

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

CDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. They are closely monitoring an outbreak caused COVID-19 and are the go to resource for the U.S.

Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) Coronavirus Business Resource Center

As many BIO members work to develop diagnostics, vaccines and treatments to address the global COVID-19 outbreak, BIO has provided resources to help companies continue their operations with minimum disruption and keep their employees safe and healthy.

Now, companies are committing billions to test existing medicines that can potentially treat infected patients and identify possible vaccine candidates that could prevent the disease. There are 284 clinical trials for potential treatments and vaccines underway around the United States and the world right now.
